Outreach
All our lectures and conferences are open to the public. We also co-sponsor public events together with the Center for International and Comparative Studies, the Block Museum, the School of Communication, and the Music School. Internef, an on-line program for the continuing training of teachers of French, was created by the Department of French and Italian and the Multi-Media Learning Center (MMLC) at Northwestern in cooperation with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States. It is designed for K-12 teachers wishing to updste their cultural knowledge and improve their linguistic skills; teachers in training; non-native teaching assistants at the college level; native or near-native French teachers looking for pedagogical suggestions and cultural information; high school students at the AP level and Collge students. Internef features ten training modules based on video sequences presenting authentic situations taken from every day life in France and filmed on location. Each module offers a wealth of notes and exercises as well as numerous links with other relevant websites.
