Sandra R. Waxman

Sandra R. Waxman (Ph.D. University of Pennsylvania),
Professor of Psychology, specializes in early language acquisition
and conceptual organization. She has written extensively on conceptual
development in children and early word learning. She has served
as panel member and ad hoc reviewer for the National Institute
of health and as external reviewer for the national Science Foundation.
She serves orhas served on the editorial board of Journal of Experimental
Child Psychology, Psychological Bulletin, Society for research
in Child development Monographs, Cognitive Development and the
Journal of Cognition and Culture. Waxman works closely with a team
of researchers at the Laboratoire de Science Cognitive et Psycholinguistic
at EHESS/ENS. She, and her collaborator Jeffredy Lidz from the
Linguistics department, will spend part of academic year 2003-04
in Paris working on a comparative study involving French and English
word acquisition. This study is supported by both the LSCP and
a grant from the NIH.
