Jane Winston

Jane Winston,
(Ph.D. Duke), Associate Professor of French. Her primary research
interests are in postcolonial theory and literature (especially
Southeast Asia), cross-cultural feminist and gender studies (especially
postcolonial and psychoanalytic), literary and cultural studies.
She is the author of Postcolonial Duras: Cultural Memory in Postwar
France (2001) and co-editor of Of Vietnam: Identities in
Dialogue (2001). She has completed a study of cultural borders,
revolutionary textual practice and social change, White Borders
and Cultural Change: the groupe de la rue Saint-Benoît
and is involved in her next major research project on French and
Francophone women writers and filmmakers and the issue of utopia.
Winston was the recipient of the Gerald Kahane Scholar's Prize for
the best article in theatre research by a junior scholar in 1996,
a fellowship from the Alice Berline Kaplan Center for the Humanities
at Northwestern University, and several university research grants.
